Doddie Weir Charity Presentation

Club Chairman John Sinski and club members presenting the cheque to Doddie Weir

It was a pleasure to welcome Doddie Weir along to the September club meeting where Chairman John Sinski presented Doddie with a cheque for £3,000 for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. The Foundation funds research into finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and offers support and help to people who have already been diagnosed with the condition. Following on from his talk to the club earlier in the year, Doddie gave us an update on current and future medical research into MND and talked about some of the things the Foundation is doing to help people living with the condition. On behalf of Doddie and the Club, thanks once again to everyone who bought tickets in our Prize Draw Raffle this year which helped us to support this very worthwhile cause.

Club Meeting 14th March

The guest speaker at our meeting this month was Hilary Green. When she’s not busy producing the Club’s posters at her Print and Stationery shop in Cupar, Hilary has a second career as a retained firefighter with Scottish Fire & Rescue based at Cupar Fire Station. Hilary gave us a fascinating insight into the role of a firefighter, which can involve anything from rescuing a dog in a drain to dealing with a major fire incident. One important aspect of the work of the firefighter is fire prevention and Hilary gave us plenty of useful fire safety tips which we’ll be able to put into practice in our workshops or at home. For anyone who didn’t manage to come along to the meeting, The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service have a lot of useful information on their website which can be found by following the link below. They also offer a free home safety visit which can be arranged by phoning 0800 0731 999, by contacting your local fire station, or by booking online at http://www.firescotland.gov.uk/your-safety.aspx Once again, we’d like to pass on our thanks to Hilary for her entertaining talk and we hope to welcome her and her colleagues to the rally in June with one of their fire engines!

Club meeting and talk by rugby legend Doddie Weir

Well it’s club meeting time again. This year we have an exciting guest coming along – Mr Doddie Weir, Scottish rugby legend!

Doddie will be there to tell everyone about his own personal battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and we have chosen his own charity to benefit from our fundraising this year.

So come along one and all to Lomond Hills Hotel, Freuchie tonight, Wednesday 10th January at 7.30pm. Meet the legend and hear about the fantastic work he is doing to beat MND and the support the charity can provide.

This year we have an international B275 as a star prize. As usual it will be raffled with all proceeds going to Doddy Weir’s MND charity.

So once again, 7.30pm, Wednesday 10th January 2018 at the Lomond Hills Hotel, Freuchie.
